This is Umbria’s largest regional park. Thee park area circles Lake Trasimeno and includes the island. Isola Polvese, thr largest one, is owned by the Province of Perugia and it is used us an educational and environmental study centre. Isola Maggiore is the second-largest island and it is the site of a charming fifteenth-century fishing village. Isola Minore is privately owned. From a naturalistic standpoint, the Park is a very important wetland area. The lake, set amidst the rolling hills of Umbria, has long been an important wintering, stopover, and reproduction area for bird life.
