The island's port- parK's photo

Situated under the territory of the Tuoro Commune, from where it is possible to take the ferry, it is the only inhabited one. The original, typical aspect of the 1400 villagge founded by fishermen is still intact; for this reason thousands of visitors each year go there in search of untouched places. In the 13th century, Saint Francis of Assisi spent a Lent there as a hermit; the merletto di Isola (Isola’s lace), or Pizzo d’Irlanda (Ireland’s lace), very eclusive hand-made craft handed down by an Irish teacher, forms together with fishing and tourism the basis of the economy of the families that live on the island.
